Fastest version of AutoCAD launched

1 April 2003

The fastest version of AutoCAD design technology, AutoCAD 2004, was recently launched internationally.
AutoCAD software, pioneered more than 20 years ago by Autodesk, is synonymous with computer-aided design (CAD) and considered by many, says Errol Ashwell, managing director of Autodesk Africa, as the design industry standard.
"The new generation software," says Ashwell, "focuses on enabling users to create and share design data more efficiently." Autodesk's commitment to project collaboration is demonstrated by its inclusion of DWF 6 (design Web format) in the AutoCAD family of products.
An enhanced collaboration and publishing platform, DWF helps users share data, facilitating seamless design collaboration and communication throughout project lifecycles.
The newly enhanced file format delivers a highly compressed, multisheet, non-editable CAD file that is rich in metadata, allowing designers, engineers, developers, and its colleagues and associates to quickly and easily communicate design information to anyone needing to view, review, or print design information. The information can be viewed and printed with the aid of Autodesk express viewer, which is included with AutoCAD's 2004 range of products or downloadable from the www.autodesk.co.za website.
AutoCAD LT 2004 software, for 2D drafting and detailing by design professionals in all industries, was also announced. The AutoCAD 2004 product family includes twelve robust design application releases for the building, manufacturing, and infrastructure markets.
