Brazil's largest manufacturer of retail and banking automation equipment makes a 3D CAD decision

1 June 2000

SolidWorks Corporation, a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D CAD software for the mainstream market, today announced that Procomp Amazonia Indœstria Eletronica, a wholly owned subsidiary of Diebold, has implemented SolidWorks software as its company-wide engineering standard. Procomp will be using SolidWorks software for designing its retail and banking automation equipment including automated teller machines (ATMs), cash registers, and personal computers.
Headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil, Procomp operates more than 150 service locations throughout Brazil and employs more than 2300 employees. The company evaluated several CAD software programs available on the market and ultimately chose SolidWorks for its large assembly modelling capabilities, 3D surfacing tools, collision detection features, overall ease-of-use, and Windows-native environment. "The machines we create are made up of hundreds of intricate parts that all need to work together," said Roberto Mamoru Goto, Engineering Project Manager for Procomp. "With SolidWorks, we are able to see the interaction between parts and ensure that they are working in-sync. This ability to view and demonstrate products to customers before manufacturing them saves us time and money."
According to John McEleney, Vice President of the Americas for SolidWorks Corporation, "Procomp's success is another example of the tremendous impact SolidWorks software is having throughout the world. The ease-of-use, speed, integrated dynamic assembly motion, and performance will enable Procomp to continue to achieve its time-to-market and quality initiatives." SolidWorks reseller, Assessocon and SolidWorks Latin America, represented by Jung Systems Informática, will provide installation, training, and support to Procomp.
Procomp manufactures and markets a wide array of innovative technological solutions including servers, software, computer equipment, professional services and retail and banking automation equipment. In October 1999, the company was acquired by Diebold, Incorporated. In 1998, Procomp shipped more than 11 300 self-service terminals of which 7300 were cash dispensers and ATMs.
