Software for architecture with 3D visual reality

1 April 2000

DataCAD has been developed by Architects for Architecture. The program's ease of use allows users to quickly familiarise themselves with its functions and start producing working drawings within days. A click on an icon will cause the powerful 3D facility to display a model in 256 colours. Whilst users may draw 2D plans by setting Z-base and Z-height numeric, a 3D drawing is actually being created. The package has a macro library, which allows the placement of 3D stairs, 3D roofs, etc on to the user's model. Polygons can be swept along any path drawn by the user. Macros are always in development by professionals all over the world, practising architecture and writing the macros, for ease of use in future drawings. These macros are available for the user to download – from the DataCAD website. The software comes standard with 1500 new 3D symbols and a powerful drawing template to easily access symbols for placement on the drawing. Included in the symbol library are doors, cars, plumbing, people, electrical, furniture, etc.
DataCAD 8.5 is Windows-based and some of the features include:
* 4x faster display list processor.

* Drop mesh 3D site modular.

* 1500 New 3D symbols.

* Windows estimator.

* 2000-based online help in Winhelp.

* Multiscale plotting.

* Visual reality suite.

* 256 colour pen selections.

* DC auto hatch.
DataCAD's user base is made up of numerous professions. These include architects, interior designers, furniture designers, exhibition designers, shopfitters, kitchen designers, builders and developers.
DataCAD won the ADEX '99 Platinum Design Award - chosen from 1480 entries, it won the ADEX award for the second straight year in the software and technology/CAD software category based on its design, robust 2D and 3D functionality, ease of use and style. CADline says that DataCAD is the second most widely used CAD software among American Institute of Architects (AIA) member firms and has currently over 250 000 installations worldwide.
