Computer-generated visualisations provide valuable competitive advantage

1 February 2001

"Computer-generated visualisations have come of age, for the first time adding significant value across the entire design process - from 'sketch' modelling, to tight interaction with AutoCAD, through to persuasive photorealistic presentations," says Errol Ashwell, MD of Autodesk Africa. "Visualisations - be they detailed visualisations or flashier walkthroughs - are no longer just 'nice to haves' but rather a fundamental part of the entire architectural and mechanical design processes, providing users with a valuable competitive advantage. Visualisations provide the tools to accelerate conceptual design, validate concepts and designs and communicate design intent, especially to less technical audiences.
AutoCAD-compatible, PC-based, Internet-enabled 3D Studio VIZ Release 3i software from Autodesk, the mainstream design software supplier, is the next generation visualisation solution for professional designers. Building design and mechanical designers can now integrate design visualisation across the entire design process, leverage a uniquely unified workflow environment in conjunction with AutoCAD solutions and benefit from a host of enhanced features that streamline modelling, animation and rendering functions.
50% price reduction
Recognising the integral role of visualisations in architectural and mechanical design, Autodesk is making its 3D Studio VIZ R3i visualisation software available at 50% of the normal price when purchased with another mainstream design product, like AutoCAD 2000, Autodesk Architectural Desktop or Mechanical Desktop.
"We believe so strongly that visualisation is a fundamental part of the overall architectural and mechanical design processes," explains Ashwell, "that we want to give our mainstream customers a low-cost opportunity to share in this belief. The specially reduced price is effective until 31 July 2001."
