Caddie launches Version 8

1 November 2001

Caddie, the South African-developed CAD system for architects and engineers, launched its latest release Version 8. Caddie 8, full of new features and benefits for existing and new users in the market.
The new features include a visible multiple snap option with the cursor changing as it is moved across pre-defined snaps such as intersections, centre of elements or element end-points etc. Multisnap is easily accessible and controlled from the screen layout. The lines, arcs or circles and hatch frames involved are highlighted to streamline editing.
In addition to the existing 'backdrop' image handling capability of Caddie, the system now has the ability to read multiple image pictures. In addition, popular formats are supported, such as .JPG, .GIF, .PDF, .TIF, .BMP etc. These pictures can be inserted in the drawing and are saved with the drawing file, or can be referenced as external disk files.
These images can be scaled, moved and moved backwards and forwards to overlay on top of elements and other images.
Dynamic zoom and pan is a new addition and uses the scroll function of a wheel mouse to zoom, or if holding down the wheel the system will pan. Communication to other systems and applications has been updated and a number of new commands and enhancements were carried out on the application side such as the insertion of doors and windows in curved walls.
