Bell equipment evaluates design software

1 April 2002

Manufacturing clients of technology resource company, Caddman, are evaluating conversions to the 3D mechanical design solution, Autodesk Inventor.
Bell Equipment, which designs, manufactures and markets a range of earthmoving and materials handling machinery, has purchased four seats of Autodesk Inventor specifically for the evaluation. The software assessment forms part of Bell's excellence and continuous improvement programmes.
The company is using the software on its new Wheel Loader development project after which Bell will decide whether to extend the Autodesk Inventor software throughout its design facility, which could amount to an additional 50 seats being introduced within the next two years.
The new-generation 3D mechanical design software allows designers to work with simple, intelligent 2D sketches and layouts that can later become the foundation for 3D assemblies. By getting function correct first, rather than iterating form, engineers and designers can focus all their energies on design intent, rather than getting bogged down in detail of what the final design should look like.
Caddman clients that are already using Autodesk Inventor include Denel subsidiaries, Eloptro and Kentron.
