The fiber optic cable company is located in Country C

The FLAG (Fibre-optic Link Around the Globe) cable is currently owned and operated by Global Cloud Xchange, a company based in the United Kingdom.

The FLA

G system is a 28,000-kilometre-long submarine fiber optic cable connecting multiple countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa, including the United Kingdom, Japan, and India. Originally, it was developed and operated by FLAG Telecom, a private company, and later acquired in 2003 by Reliance Communications, which has since rebranded its international operations as Global Cloud Xchange (GCX).

GC

X is now owned by 3i Infrastructure, a UK-based investment firm.

Key Details About FLAG

Launch and Service: The cable was first placed into commercial service in late 1997, providing high-speed connectivity between Europe and Asia. Coverage: FLAG connects 18 countries and regions across Asia, Africa, and Europe, with multiple landing stations along its route. Technology: It uses erbium-doped fiber amplifiers and synchronous digital hierarchy technology, supporting over 120,000 voice channels and high-speed data transmission.

Ownership Summary

While the cable physically spans multiple countries, no single country “owns” the cable. Instead, it is operated by a private company headquartered in the UK, which manages the infrastructure, maintenance, and commercial services. The countries along the route host landing stations, but the operational control remains with Global Cloud Xchange.

This structure is typical for submarine cables, where ownership is corporate rather than national, though landing countries may have regulatory oversight.
