Huawei Network Data Center Rack Setup Method

Huawei data center racks should be installed with proper spacing, grounding, and alignment, following manufacturer guidelines for device mounting, cable management, and intelligent rack configuration.

Device Mounting in Racks

When installing devices in a Huawei cabinet or rack, ensure sufficient clearance for heat dissipation: at least 50 mm on both sides and the rear of the device. Mounting brackets must be horizontally aligned on the left and right rails to prevent distortion. Use M4 screws to attach brackets to the chassis, and floating nuts on the front rails to secure the device with M6 screws.

Maintain 1 U spacing between devices in the same rack and 150 mm between devices in different racks for airflow and maintenance access.

Grounding and Power Connection

Before connecting power, attach the ground cable from the device to the cabinet ground point. If a cabinet ground bar is available, connect the device ground to it. Ensure the power supply meets the device requirements, such as 380–415 V AC, 3-phase, 50/60 Hz for FusionModule2000 systems.

Proper grounding prevents electrical hazards and ensures stable operation.

Cable Management

Relocate the cable manager to align with the device height. Use an insulated flat-head screwdriver to insert floating nuts into the rack rails, ensuring they are level on both sides. Organize power and network cables to avoid obstruction of airflow and maintain accessibility for maintenance.

Intelligent Rack Deployment

Huawei Cloud offers iRack and iMetal intelligent racks for deploying server hardware. Purchase racks via the CloudDC console, select the appropriate resource type, and ensure prepaid billing and sufficient account balance. After deployment, you can manage rack details, view server information, and export rack data through the web-based console.

Intelligent racks simplify monitoring, connectivity, and integration with Huawei Cloud services.

Additional Considerations

Maintain adequate spacing between racks for aisle containment and cooling efficiency. Integrate optional systems like fire control linkage and water softeners if required by the data center environment. Verify that the cabinet or rack is securely fixed and that AC installation positions are properly arranged before mounting devices.
