What brand of router should I use for fiber optic internet

Top router brands that support fiber optic internet include Netgear, ASUS, TP-Link, Linksys, and Ubiquiti, offering models capable of multi-gig speeds and Wi-Fi 6 or 7 performance.

Recommended Router Brands and Models

Netgear: Known for high-performance routers like the Nighthawk RS700S and RS90 Wi-Fi 7, Netgear routers support multi-gigabit fiber plans, wide coverage, and advanced features such as LAN aggregation and Wi-Fi Protected Setup for secure connections.

ASU

S: Models like the RT-BE86U and ROG GT-AXE16000 provide Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6 support, ultra-low latency for gaming, and high throughput for multiple devices, making them ideal for heavy internet usage and smart homes. TP-Link: Routers such as the Archer AX55 and AX90 offer reliable Wi-Fi 6 performance at various price points, suitable for smaller homes or budget-conscious users while still handling fiber speeds effectively. Linksys: Mesh systems like the Velop AX4200 are designed for whole-home coverage, eliminating dead zones and maintaining stable fiber internet performance across multiple rooms.

Ubiquiti: The UFiber UF-WiFi6 router is a practical option for GPON fiber environments, providing dependable Wi-Fi 6 connectivity for standard home or office use, with easy management through UniFi systems. Key Features to Look ForWi-Fi Standard: Wi-Fi 6 or 7 is essential to fully utilize fiber speeds, especially for plans 1 Gbps and higher.

Multi-

Gigabit Ethernet Ports: Ensure the router has 1G, 2. 5G, or 10G WAN/LAN ports to handle high bandwidth. Coverage and Device Support: Consider routers that can support multiple devices and provide coverage for your home or office size.

Mesh systems are ideal for larger areas. Security Features: Look for routers with built-in security suites, such as NETGEAR Armor or Trend Micro, to protect against malware and unauthorized access.

Conclusion

Not all routers are compatible with fiber optic internet. To maximize speed and reliability, choose routers from Netgear, ASUS, TP-Link, Linksys, or Ubiquiti that support multi-gigabit speeds, Wi-Fi 6/7, and robust wired connectivity. Selecting the right router ensures seamless streaming, gaming, and smart home performance while fully leveraging your fiber connection.
