Single-mode single-core corrugated fiber optic cable

A single-mode single-core corrugated fiber optic cable is designed for long-distance, high-speed data transmission with a single light path, featuring a protective corrugated layer for enhanced durability. Core FeaturesSingle-mode fiber has a very small core, typically 8–10 micrometers, allowing light to travel in a single path, which minimizes modal dispersion and supports transmission over distances up to 100 kilometers without signal regeneration. This makes it ideal for telecom backbones, data centers, FTTH deployments, and long-haul networks.

Single-core cables carry one fiber per cable, simplifying installation and reducing crosstalk.

Corrugated Construction

The corrugated layer in the cable provides mechanical protection, enhancing resistance to crushing, bending, and environmental stress. This is particularly useful for outdoor, direct-burial, or industrial applications where the cable may be exposed to harsh conditions. Corrugated steel or aluminum layers are commonly used to improve durability while maintaining flexibility.

Cable Types and SheathingSingle-mode cables can be manufactured in various constructions: Loose Tube: Fibers are housed in gel-filled or dry tubes, suitable for outdoor and long-distance installations. Tight Buffered: Fibers are coated directly with protective layers, ideal for indoor or short-distance runs. Armored Options: Steel-armored or corrugated designs provide extra protection against rodents, mechanical stress, and environmental hazards.

Sheath materials can include PVC, LSZH, OFNR, or OFNP, depending on fire safety and environmental requirements. Performance StandardsHigh-quality single-mode fibers comply with ITU-T G. 652.

B/G. 652. D, IEC 60793-2-50, and other international standards, ensuring low attenuation, minimal dispersion, and compatibility with DWDM systems for future network upgrades.

Typical operating wavelengths are 1310 nm and 1550 nm, with some fibers supporting the L-band (1565–1625 nm) for extended capacity. ApplicationsSingle-mode single-core corrugated fiber optic cables are widely used in: Telecommunications and CATV networksLong-haul and metropolitan backbone networksData center interconnectsIndustrial and energy transmission networksDefense and healthcare sectors requiring high reliability These cables provide high-speed, low-loss, and reliable data transmission while withstanding challenging environmental conditions, making them a versatile choice for both current and future network infrastructures.
