EDS PLM Solutions recently announced the availability of Solid Edge Insight.NET Version 14, EDS' value-based solution for the mainstream market. The announcement follows and expands on the recent unveiling of Solid Edge Version 14 and Rapid Blue Technology.
Included with Version 14 is an update of Solid Edge's award-winning Insight.NET software for managed design collaboration containing a new Lifecycle Assistant for delivery of automated workflows with revisioning and release processes.
The highly successful Insight.NET, Solid Edge's built-in design management solution, now provides additional robust tools for automated project release workflow and a recursive revision history capability. The technology makes it easier for users to collaborate via internal and external networks, while maintaining control of their documents.
"From a user training and user acceptance perspective, Solid Edge Insight.NET is perfect for design management because it is hidden, behind the scenes and the learning curve is virtually nil," said Judy Marlo a Solid Edge Version 14 beta tester from Hussmann Corp. in St. Louis, Missouri. The new Lifecycle Assistant provides an automated workflow for complete packages of documents as 3D models move through the release process. Teams can collaborate more effectively by knowing exactly where the latest documents are, and that they are definitely using the correct revisions. Solid Edge Insight.NET's Lifecycle Assistant helps users to move Solid Edge files forward through the project lifecycle. Files move automatically to the appropriate folders, drafting documents change to the same status as the parent document, and users have an option to move older revisions of the same documents to an 'obsolete' folder. Lifecycle Assistant removes the guesswork about the latest revisions of assembly models and all their related information. With Solid Edge Insight.NET, it is impossible to have a drawing file that is out of date from the 3D model or have unreleased parts in a released assembly, both essential control factors when sharing information in a collaborative workflow. Version 14 also allows users to automatically retrieve and apply correct part revisions based on a set of rules to assemblies as they are opened. This enables engineers to retrieve all the latest revisions, or the latest released revisions of all parts within the assembly, with a single click.
