Fiber optic cable 1310 test value

Fiber Loss For multimode fiber, the loss is about 3 dB per km for 850 nm sources, 1 dB per km for 1300 nm. 5 dB/km max per EIA/TIA 568) This roughly translates into a loss of 0. In standard Singlemode cable assembly, the two wavelengths used for Insertion Loss testing are 1310nm and 1550nm. So, IF your cable assembly is built. However, it is beneficial to make it standard practice to test all fiber optic cable assemblies at 1310 and 1550: the variation in insertion loss between the 1310nm and 1550nm test wavelengths can be very helpful in identifying serious problems with the product and/or process. The estimate. This Applications Engineering Note (AEN 135) explains and recommends standard measurement methods for characterizing optical fiber system performance. This note also provides background information on system link configurations, test equipment and system component considerations that influence. This document outlines the specifications for a single-mode optical fiber and cable designed for use around the 1310 nm zero-dispersion wavelength, suitable for both the 1310 nm and 1550 nm regions, and compatible with analogue and digital transmission.
