Direct-to-vinyl printing solution

1 August 2003

Designed specifically for entry level sign shops, the Encad VinylJet 36 offers vibrant, full colour image printing on standard untreated, uncoated vinyl.
First Graphics' Digital Imaging Division national sales manager Eric Morgan says, "The VinylJet 36 opens new horizons of profitability by reducing labour, production time and material cost."
The Encad VinylJet's AquaVinyl Technology uses a unique infrared curing system with water-based inks to produce UV-durable, water-resistant images directly onto untreated/uncoated vinyl. This printing system features an internal heater that pre-heats the vinyl as it moves across the platen for optimal ink reception. Then, immediately after the ink is printed onto the vinyl substrate, an infrared lamp cures the ink, creating an impermeable bond for long-lasting, colourful text and graphics.
The new, curable AquaVinyl Ink is formulated to produce vibrant colour. The VinylJet 36 can produce completed prints in minutes, removing the need for cutting and mounting, thereby reducing the material costs and labour time traditionally associated with vinyl sign production.
A three-year outdoor guarantee is offered with certain vinyl media. Encad has tested a wide range of vinyl media from various manufacturers to create a list of compatible media, which is expanding as more tests are conducted.
