Multifunction copier/scanner/printer suitable for wide range of applications

1 October 2003

With three functions combined, the HP Designjet 815mfp can copy, scan, and print large documents in colour and black-and-white. All elements of the system are integrated to ensure a seamless workflow that saves workspace and is intuitive to operate.
The 815mfp is well suited for GIS users like cartographers, engineers in oil and gas exploration and mining, civil engineers, land planners and professionals in the utilities, telecommunication and government departments, who need to copy, scan and print large format documents with consistent colours, sharp, accurate contour lines and high image quality. The device's integrated design also makes it ideal for those print service providers who need an easy-to-use solution to expand their business.
"The 815mfp allows users to create copies of oversized colour documents on paper or in electronic format using the latest scanning software," enthuses the owner of HP distributor, Aisel Systems, Erna Liebenberg. "Large illustrations, photos and drawings up to 1092 mm (43 inches) wide and up to 15 mm (0,6 inch) thick can be scanned, with originals having a 424 ppi optical and 2400 ppi enhanced resolution and a line accuracy of 0,15%. Precision copies can be made at high quality resolution of up to 2400 x 1200 dpi using HP Colour Layering Technology."
A wide variety of print media can be used, with widths up to 1067 mm (42 inches).
With the scanner set to 200 dpi, colour documents can be digitised at 38 mm (1,5 inches) per second, and black-and-white scans at 76 mm (3,0 inches) per second. The output files can be saved for further manipulation using the most common formats, including PDF, TIFF and JPEG.
"The advanced colour management, image enhancement and calibration features can be used to obtain optimum quality copies," continues Liebenberg. "Furthermore, the colour correction features allows the user to sharpen, soften and blur the image to produce clean and crisp scans every time.
"HP has taken every effort to ensure that the 815mfp has an easy and intuitive operation to reduce the user's learning curve. An intuitive and user-friendly touch-screen display with a graphical interface takes the user through each step required to produce the type of document or file. Features like a prints list application enable one to further free up time by printing scanned jobs in unattended batches and automatic colour calibration is used to ensure maximum consistency between originals and copies," she concludes.
The HP Designjet 815mfp can be used as a standalone device or can be plugged into an existing workflow.
