Productive power to handle dynamic document workflows

1 October 2003

Océ South Africa has recently introduced the multifunctional Océ VarioPrintT 2090 for high volume cut sheet commercial and corporate environments. Based on the successful Océ 3165, the 85-prints-per-minute system provides true multitasking, allowing simultaneous scanning, printing and finishing. Users control functionality from their desktops or from the convenient interface panel at the machine.
Office and production environments face very dynamic document workflows," says Mark Ninow, product manager for Océ South Africa. "One only has to look at the trends-networking, digital file handling, migration from analog-based to digital-based systems, more requests for print on demand-to see the kinds of document issues out there. Yet big changes in document workflows should not mean big changes in document production. With the powerful, productive 2090, users can easily produce even the most complex documents when, where and how they want to. Thanks to the system's flexible media possibilities, reliable document handling and productive finishing."

"Capable of handling document workflows in offices and central and commercial print rooms, the 2090 takes reliability, ease of use, high quality and unfaltering productivity to a new level. Even complex jobs with multiple media types, single and double sided documents and precise finishing are handled without a loss in productivity. We believe that the Océ VarioPrint 2090 is the sensible answer for demanding environments."
Power from the desktop or the machine
The 2090 is designed to integrate into existing company workflows and IT infrastructures. Users have complete control from their desktops, where intuitive software gives easy access to the system. Operations at the machine benefit from Océ's 'Green Button' approach for simplicity and productivity. The Digital Mailbox, first introduced with the Océ 3165, gives users the option of storing their print jobs and the ability to protect confidential documents at the machine using a secure PIN.
Ninow says that the 2090 structurally strengthens a company's document workflow, particularly during unattended document production. The system prints 5100 images an hour. Productivity enhancers include:
* Multitasking: simultaneous processing, scanning, printing and finishing.

* Four paper trays with advanced air separation that feed almost any stock.

* Full-speed duplexing and internal finishing.

* Océ Copy Press for 'first-time-right' job production.

* Rasterised job queuing.

* Digital Mailbox functionality (enabling job identification, storage, PoD, sample prints).

* Next-job programming (enabling batch printing).

* 'Sub-set scanning' (enabling job building, mix-plex, inserts).
Océ SA stresses its commitment to making the Océ VarioPrint 2090 a safe investment and a future-proof solution. "We know that companies are changing rapidly with mergers, acquisitions and rationalisations," says Ninow. "We expect their workflows to change right along with their business. That is why we have based the 2090 on open platforms that assure current and future compatibility with a company's infrastructure and processes. We have also designed connectivity to evolve with IT and business standards. And our R&D; is already at work on new functionality to accommodate changing document requirements."
A powerful part of the Océ Vario product line
"The Océ VarioPrint 2090 is part of the new Océ Vario product line, which includes both VarioPrintT and VarioStream systems. These systems are designed to produce documents more effectively in today's variable world, with its omnipresent networks and mixed data sources: mainframes, minicomputers, client-servers, etc. The robust Océ Vario systems help people get their vital information on and off the information highway, both by accepting data from a variety of sources and by putting this information onto paper or scanning it to file," concludes Ninow.
