New cost-effective lightfast inks

1 December 2003

Keymark Media has introduced a fade resistant solution for Hewlett-Packard 1000 and 5000 printers.
"Fotonic inks are cost-effective, lightfast dye-based inks, giving a very different maximum colour gamut and behaving better than pigment inks when displayed under various light sources," says Richard Bell, MD of Keymark Media.
"Previously, if users wanted print longevity from their HP1000/5000 Designjet, they had no other option but to use expensive and dull pigment inks. Originally released as a dye-based machine with no fade resistance, the HP Designjet printers required an upgrade to make them suitable for pigmented graphics output."
Keymark points out this considerable expense and sacrifice in colour vibrancy can now be avoided with the introduction of Fotonic inks, the only archival dye-based ink solution available for HP. The Fotonic V2 solution will be available in chipped pre-filled cartridges for the 1000 and 5000 printers and is specifically designed to retain the widest colour gamut possible whilst providing extended fade resistance.
"Users can expect to pay even lower prices to the original HP dye inks, whilst getting all the benefit of extended display life," concludes Bell.
