New from Océ SA, VPindex software allows the user to index scanned drawings and geographical images and export them directly to digital archives. Targeted at applications that include architecture, civil engineering, mechanical CAD, assembly drawings, geographical information systems, cadastral maps and electronic document management and archiving, Softelec's VPindex simplifies the management of drawings.

Guided by a wizard, users set up a batch process to clean-up, rotate, convert and crop scanned drawings. The process also provides OCR functionality, which converts data in the drawing's title block to text, for automated indexing of the document. Users are then able to easily search for, and retrieve, the document. VPindex allows various export possibilities, like HTML for CD creation or Web publishing, making it possible for companies to share information.
