The world's fastest printer in its class

1 April 2004

Océ South Africa's Wide Format Printing Systems has announced its latest offering to the technical document market from Seiko I Infotech, the IP4500 Mk-II. The company claims that these six-colour inkjet printers are the fastest printers in their class, achieving an outstanding 18 m2/h at 720 dpi or 38 m2 with 360 dpi resolution.
This high printing speed not only enhances productivity; it places the printer in a leading position in the imaging industry. Even in high quality mode, the SII maintains superior productivity by printing out an A0 sheet (1 m2) in 3 minutes. Such speeds make the printers ideal for a high-production print environment.
The SII IP4500 Mk-II 54-inch printer is available with Ethernet and/or Postscript RIP. It also offers outstanding weather resistance with superb image quality. The oil-based, odour-free pigment ink creates images that are both water-resistant and lightfast, allowing unlaminated adhesive vinyl prints to be displayed outdoors for up to one year. Its high quality output makes the printer ideal for applications such as billboards and banners.
The SII prints at 'real' 720 dpi for graphic art quality print. Image quality can be further enhanced if 8-pass mode is used, without any loss of speed. The enhanced various printing modes are very useful for a wide range of applications: CAD; GIS; reprographics; indoor signage; and outdoor signage. The printer is compatible with various types of media, including coated papers, glossy papers, white PET film, polyester cloth, scrim vinyl, plain paper, backlit film, adhesive vinyl, outdoor polyester banner, economical cloth, and with many others under development.
The six-colour inks used in the IP4500 Mk-II - cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan and light magenta - increase the colour gamut, making areas such as skin tones richer and more life-like - ideal for the professional user that demands the best in colour accuracy.
SII's super-wide Piezo head offers superior print quality at high speed. The piezo print head is 72 mm wide, with 3080 nozzles (510 per colour). In addition, the head deposits super-fine ink droplets to consistently produce detailed images while reducing ink consumption and wastage.
