Clutter-free desktops are more cost efficient and productive

1 April 2004

Devotees of the 14-inch CRT display will find it increasingly difficult to locate monitors of this ilk, as vendors are continually moving towards entry-level 15 inch or 17-inch monitors. Add to that, the inconvenience of a huge CRT monitor if you require more viewing space and better resolution. Samsung's latest 19-inch LCD SyncMaster 193T monitor is proving to be extremely competitive for just that reason.
"Flat screen LCD monitors offer great space saving benefits as well as health and environmental improvements over older CRT technologies," says Mark Campbell, GM for Tarsus Technologies. "Even as little as two years ago, LCD displays were not a viable option for the majority of users due to their high prices. Fortunately this has changed and flat panel prices have declined substantially, making these monitors cost-effective options for almost all PC users."
Samsung's SyncMaster 193T provides a dual interface, delivering images that will lead the future display capabilities of monitors. "The 193T is also a sure winner when it comes to space saving and effective viewing angles," Campbell notes. "With a depth of only 21 cm, users can pivot, tilt and fold the monitor so that it slots easily onto any desk without taking over the entire workspace."
The stylish ultra narrow bezel on the monitor's face ensures that the maximum display area is available, offering users a clear 19-inch screen area with a 170° viewing angle. A maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 at 16,7 million colours rounds off the display feature, ensuring an unmistakable reception for all onlookers.
The net weight of the system is only 6,15 kg, making this a portable option to take along to presentations or use as a wall-mounted display if needed. The screen can also be turned vertically, allowing users to view full A4 documents without having to scroll down or change the font to an unreadable size.
Reducing the cost of ownership even more, the 193T boasts a 'built-in' power supply, which delivers the best performance while requiring the minimum in power consumption. It consumes less than 40 W of power, compared to a typical 60 W in other LCD monitors.
"With a 3 year or 20 000 hour warranty, Samsung is obviously certain of the quality and reliability of the 193T," concludes Campbell. "And while the total cost of ownership is minimised due to efficient power and space consumption, the display does not skimp on the features necessary to enhance productivity and provide a general pleasant viewing experience."
Available in two-tone, black and silver, the Samsung SyncMaster 193T is available from Tarsus Technologies.
