Following the recent local launch of the Encad 1000i large-format printer, First Graphics has seen an unprecedented level of support for this device.

The Encad 1000i is the first development to incorporate technology and knowledge from both Encad and Kodak since Kodak bought Encad. Not only does the printer make use of the best of both companies, but it also features customer-specific requirements following the points derived from a questionnaire sent to customers around the world.

One of the features of the 1000i that makes it so unique is the high level of self-diagnostics built into the printer to address all aspects of the print cycle. Not only does it automatically alert the operator and the control station that it is running low on ink, but it also knows which inks are currently in use and whether there will be enough ink in the system to handle the job or jobs which are being queued to run. In addition, it keeps a log of all the ink that is used, allowing both the operator and Encad to determine if a problematic batch of ink has been put into the system.
