The MD of Graficomp, Graham Roy, and well-known architect Gavin Catto were in San Francisco, USA, at the end of August when HP launched six new large format printers. These new products where unveiled at a HP Worldwide conference held to coincide with the Seybold Trade Show - a showcase for large format digital printing and the latest in software.

Said Roy after seeing the new range, "The new printers offer unbelievable production speed and photo quality - I have never seen anything else in its class to match these. Imagine printing 52,86 m²/h on a 60" wide printer - they have to be seen to be believed."

The new additions to the HP large format range are:

DesignJet 500/500PS - for architects and engineers - line drawings in fast mode: 90 s (A1 size); 1200 x 600 dpi; 500PS has standard Adobe PostScript 3 software RIP.

DesignJet 800/800PS - for architects, engineers and GIS professionals - line drawings in fast mode in 60 s (A1 size); 2400 x 1200 dpi; 6 GB hard disk - has a 'Virtual computer' inside freeing up your own computer; 800PS has standard Adobe Postscript 3 software RIP. Available in 610 mm/A1 (24") and 1070 mm (42") wide.

DesignJet 5000/5000PS - for print service providers and retailers - print images in fast mode in 36 s (A1 size); 6 ink system (CMYKcm); 1200 x 600 dpi. The 5000PS has standard Adobe PostScript 3 software RIP. Available in 1070 mm (42") and 1520 mm (60") wide.
