Tarsus announces new flexible speed-demons from HP

1 June 2005

Tarsus Technologies has announced the arrival of the HP DesignJet 4000 printer series aimed at the modern design market. Utilising HP's Double Swath technology, the DesignJet 4000 series offers two long-life HP printheads for each colour. The wider printer swath and higher firing frequency enables faster printing at up to two D/A1 size prints, in colour and black-and-white, in one minute.
"The 4000 series offers fast, simultaneous processing and printing thanks to the embedded processor," says Mark Purves, product manager at Tarsus Technologies. The series also comes with 256 MB of memory that can easily be upgraded to 512 MB for stable performance on even the most demanding of jobs.
"This series will also save you time with its driverless multifile printing workflow," continues Purves. "This feature is accessed via a Web-browser, making it operating system independent." The embedded Web server allows for remote management of ink and media usage, control over job priority, reprinting of stored jobs, print previews and service print screens that can be sent to HP for troubleshooting.
The 4000 series provides superior, high-quality lines and images with a line accuracy of up to 0,1%. HP inks and sophisticated printhead technology supports small drop sizes, with resolutions of up to 2400 x 1200 dpi. The series also offers excellent photo quality and renders, with more details in shadows.
Purves explains how the 4000 series is ready to take on the most diverse of professional environments, thanks to its flexible support for a wide range of media. "The 4000 series supports everything from plain paper to canvas and glossy paper, up to 1067 millimetres in size," he says. "When combined with accurate and consistent screen-to-print matching with HP Professional Colour technologies, this series is a high-quality solution for any job." This diversity is supplemented with enhanced support for sRGB and AdobeRGB printing, Closed Loop Colour, TIFF and JPEG as well as enhanced graphic features in the PostScript unit.
Since the 4000 series is destined for users in the demanding modern design environment, the printer must also be reliable and quick to maintain. This is taken care of with HP's smart printing technology, enabling automatic alerts for timely cartridge replacement. Productivity is also never compromised, thanks to remote diagnostics, job-tracking and accounting.
