Dodd Printers puts customers first

1 December 2000

Pietermaritzburg-based commercial printers Dodd Printers' strategy is to provide the best and widest service to its customers. To help achieve that, the company bought an Encad NovaJet PRO 50 printer. Owner Noel Dodd explains:
"Our customers come first and when we had to turn some of them away because we were limited size-wise we decided it was time to invest in a wide format printer to extend our existing digital colour printing service. With the PRO 50 we can print sizes from A4 to A0, which is the conventional poster size."
Dodd admits that the PRO 50 is not in full production yet, but he believes there is a big market for it. "I suppose we work differently from other printing companies," laughs Dodd. "We bought the printer first and now we are targeting the market. I cannot say exactly what the PRO 50 will be used for but there is definitely a need for a wide format printer. However, most important is that we now can offer our customers the service they need and we do not have to send them away when they want large format posters."
Dodd is impressed with the wide variety of applications that the PRO 50 offers. He believes the ability to print on a variety of material, including canvas, will increase the company's clientele.
First Graphics National Sales Manager Eric Morgan agrees: "The advantage of the PRO 50 is that it can be used for a variety of applications. Because it can easily print on canvas, it is the perfect output device for artists looking to reproduce their work digitally. Engineers and architects can print sophisticated CAD/GIS renderings with smooth colour blends and saturated solids. Furthermore, the 50 allows sign makers to produce 50" wide powerful graphics for their print-for-pay needs."
The NovaJet 50 is an ideal choice for businesses involved in quick turnarounds and small production print runs of signs, exhibit booth graphics, or point-of-sale material. It offers a wide range of time saving features that lets you spend your time creating graphics with impact rather than having the process impact your graphics.
According to Dodd the selection of the PRO 50 was not only of its width size but also because of distributor First Graphics. "We have a good and long-standing relationship with First Graphics since we bought other products from the company over many years. We know that we can rely on First Graphics for support and after-sales service."
