Encad's Cadjet 2 makes plotting a pleasure

1 December 2000

Plotting and printing drawings used to be a slow and tedious job for Port Elizabeth-based LN Manufacturing's designing department. This changed when the company got a contract from Volkswagen SA for the drawings of its A4 Golf and Jetta's doors. LN Manufacturing, which designs and supplies tooling used in assembling vehicles, decided it was time to invest in a more powerful plotter. It searched the market and purchased Encad's Cadjet 2 inkjet plotter from reseller Apex Computers.
Design Office Manager Larry Olivier is highly impressed with the Cadjet 2. He says the plotter has exactly the benefits that the company needs - incredible speed, reliability and ease of use. "The designing department plots and prints two copies of each drawing, one for the workshop and one for the client's archive. This was always a time-consuming process because the existing plotter did not allow for batch plotting.
"The Volkswagen contract involved over 200 drawings. The Cadjet 2's incredible speed, roll-feed and automatic cutter, which eliminates the need to feed individual sheets, made it the natural choice. We were able to finish the drawings in less than fifteen hours."
Olivier says he investigated the plotter market before choosing the Cadjet. "The Cadjet 2 just offers so much more for the same price. But, the deciding factor was the Cadjet's phenomenal speed. No other plotter can compete with the Cadjet."
André Pretorius at Apex Computers agrees: "Clients are beginning to ask for Encad products in preference to others. Pen plotters are becoming relics of the past, and the competitive pricing coupled with the rapid plotting rate and accuracy of the Cadjet 2 make them the natural choice for CAD/Cam and GIS users. Other advantages include the high-resolution monochrome mode that provides users with the best line and text quality possible and colour capabilities for logo's, shaded areas and colour lines."
First Graphics is the sole distributor of the Encad product range locally.
