Quality image copying made easy with ergonomic touchscreen controller

1 April 2000

VIDAR Systems introduced the VIDAR SP2000 to the printing market. This followed an OEM agreement between VIDAR and Vivid Image Technology that awarded VIDAR the exclusive distribution rights of Vivid Image's award winning scan-to-print controllers for both North and South America. The SP2000 is an efficient, space-saving controller that allows repro-graphics centres, quick printers, and in-house print shops to quickly and economically produce high-quality, large format colour prints.
The VIDAR SP2000 represents a significant advance in large format digital image copying. It provides a direct print management connection between VIDAR scanners and large format printers, which results in significant advantages for high production environments in terms of cost containment, systems compatibility, fast return on investment and greatly increased competitive capabilities. By simply connecting the SP2000 to a scanner, any image can now automatically be enlarged, reduced or simply copied for output whatever size the printer allows. This is achieved without the time-consuming formatting, keystrokes and mouse-movements that are involved when using a traditional computer-based copying system.
The SP2000 is a compact, microprocessor-based controller that incorporates an ergonomically designed touchscreen panel. Selections available on the touch-screen panel include enlarge and reduce, rotate, crop, step, repeat and tiling. The unit pre-scans an original image and allows the user to make choices. It automatically calculates the size of the original, adjusts for white and black points, makes colour corrections based on specific equipment, ink and paper being used, and sends the job to the printer. The average user obtains outstanding colour results with built-in ICC (international colour consortium) profiles. The unit is also upgradeable to include a full range of advanced features such as network PostScript printing.
The VIDAR SP2000 offers compatibility with over 40 printer models and a variety of scanners including VIDAR's Titan and Atlas large format colour scanners.
First Graphics, a leading supplier of equipment, technology and consumables to the printing industry, distributes VIDAR products in southern Africa.
