Folex AG, one of the leading manufacturers of inkjet media for large and small size plotters and laser printers, and exporter of films and coated products throughout 93 countries worldwide, has appointed First Graphics as its local distributor of large format media products. This follows long discussions between First Graphics' General Manager Don Yates and Folex's Area Sales & Marketing Manager for Africa, Marcus Winter, during Winter's visit to South Africa in December.

Winter explains the agreement: "We decided to start exporting our large format media to South Africa and chose First Graphics as our distributor for various reasons. The company has an excellent reputation in the South African market, its management is professional and the staff well trained and motivated. Furthermore, the company has excellent access too and knowledge of the local market and its respective channels. Another advantage is that our products are complementary to First Graphics' existing co-suppliers and products."

Yates says First Graphics is delighted about the appointment. "Initially the users of large format inkjet printers bought media products only from the suppliers of printers. Soon they required cheaper alternative media products. This led to more competitors entering the market and users realised they could source media products from various distributors at competitive prices.

"First Graphics' appointment as Folex's distributor enables us to provide a full solution to our customers. Now we can provide them not only with Encad's QIS media but also with alternative media products. Folex's high quality inkjet film is compatible with the majority of wide format inkjet printers."
