Johannesburg-based 3D Design, specialists in designing and building exhibition stands, recently bought Encad's NovaJet 500 wide format printer that enables it to offer clients a complete service.

Owner John Kullmann says until the installation of the new Encad 500, his company was limited to outsourcing. "We have been using a smaller printer, the NovaJet Pro 36, for years and had to out source printing jobs wider than 36". Although the service was good it was a tedious process. It was extremely frustrating when clients needed posters in a hurry and had to wait. The only answer was to invest in our own wide format printer.

"After only two months of taking delivery of the NovaJet 500 60" from First Graphics the printer has enabled us to add value to our service, because we are able to complete all jobs in-house - from designing an exhibition display stand to finishing exhibition material. In addition, turnaround times are substantially faster. This has improved significantly not only our productivity but also our bottom-line."

3D Design's clients include Nedbank, Total, Canon, Bosch and Yokohoma. "These companies exhibit at shows like AutoAfrica, Computer Faire and Electra Mining, and constantly need new posters. The increase in their requirements and the expanded workload were the main reasons why it became necessary to invest in a bigger printer," says Kullmann.

National Sales Manager of First Graphics' Digital Imaging Division Eric Morgan says the NovaJet 500 is the industry's fastest thermal inkjet printer in its class and ideal for graphic artists and exhibit builders.

Kullmann concludes that he chose the NovaJet 500 for its speed and price. "The NovaJet 500 has more than met our expectations in terms of speed and quality. But we did not expect anything differently. After all, it is an Encad printer and we know we can rely on Encad."
