Printing a backdrop for Y2K Kruger Rand

1 February 2001

Sandton-based repro bureau 3 White Dogs used its Encad NovaJet PRO 600e wide format printer for the first time to print a 3,5 x 2,5 m backdrop for the Y2K Kruger Rand.
Shortly after the company bought the PRO 600e, Rand Refinery requested it to print the banner, destined for New York. Owner Martin Howard says it was an exciting job. "It was the first wide format printing job that we did. Thanks to the PRO 600e everything went well. The wonder of the printer was that we did not have to supervise the printing. It ran by itself. The revolutionary roll-paper feeder/take-up system and built-in dryer allowed for the unattended printing of large batch runs and multipanelled work. We could go home at night and knew that the job would be done the next morning."
Howard continues: "The printer ensures optimal colour matching, brighter colours and fast drying on every print. The improved quality and speed that the printer provides, enables us to deliver the kind of service that our customers expect from us."
According to Howard the PRO 600e saves time and improves productivity. "It allows us to print up to 1,5 m wide in one section. And no time is wasted waiting for a print to dry. With a built-in dryer, prints are already dry by the time they are rolled up on the take-up mechanism."
First Graphics' National Sales Manager Eric Morgan continues: "The PRO 600e is the most cost-effective machine on the market. It has four print heads with printing modes of 600 dpi as well as 300 dpi, allowing versatility for different applications."
3 White Dogs still uses the two NovaJet PRO 36 printers that it purchased a few years ago. "We know we can rely on Encad's products as well as First Graphics' support and after sales service, and did not hesitate to buy the PRO 600e when a wide format printer became a necessity. The PRO 600e is an exceptional printer. Its speed and ultra-wide printing in 42 and 60" media formats have improved production and productivity," concludes Howard.
