New printer offers improved inks, performance and software

1 July 2001

Encad has introduced its enhanced CADJET 3D printer, which includes Encad's latest technological advancements inclusive of new inks, increased performance, and improved software.
"Four black pigment-based cartridges make it one of the fastest monochrome inkjet printers in the industry," says Eric Morgan, National Sales Manager, Digital Imaging Division at First Graphics, sole local distributor of Encad's state-of-the-art wide-format inkjet printers. "Encad has also incorporated new software and performance capabilities that make it ideally suited for all AEC, CAD and GIS application users."
The new CADJET 3D offers three different bulk ink configurations, each allowing on-the-fly refilling of its 250 ml ink reservoirs. The original CIS (CAD Imaging Supplies) configuration consisting of four dye-based (CMYK) inks, is used when exceptional colour, greyscale and monochrome representations are required. Two additional options are available with ENCAD's new CISP (CAD Imaging Supplies Pigmented) ink solution, utilising black pigment-based ink. For applications that need a combination of colour and crisp black lines in their line drawings and renderings, the CADJET 3D provides three dye-based (CMY) inks, and one black, pigment-based, UV-resistant (K) ink. A four-black, pigment-based, UV-resistant (KKKK) ink configuration can be installed when speed and precise monochrome line drawings are required.
An Accessory Pack, CIS2 (CAD Imaging Supplies 2) consisting of four-black, standalone, foam-filled, pigment-based (KKKK) ink cartridges is available for users who need to quickly and easily change the CADJET 3D's configuration from CMYK to all black, without having to re-prime cartridges or clean ink lines. Simply snap in the four-black, pigment-based cartridges and immediately begin printing crisp monochrome line drawings and renderings. Switching back to a CMYK configuration is as simple as replacing the original CMYK cartridges.
The CADJET 3D's new four-black, pigment-based, UV-resistant ink cartridges provide excellent line quality on the most inexpensive bond papers including translucent bond and vellum. Additionally, when selecting the best media for their applications, CADJET 3D users can now choose from Encad's entire QIS (quality imaging supplies) media product line including coated bond, premium matte, photo gloss, and semi-gloss.
The CADJET 3D includes a 10/100Base-T network interface and a full suite of software enhancements that allows users to enjoy the latest functionality and efficiency. An enhanced V/R Xpress, version 2.0, software Postscript RIP (Raster Imaging Processor) offers exceptional output device features such as rotation, colour control, scaling, and print preview for large, complex raster and vector images.
Additionally, it supports Postscript Level 3, EPS, PDF, and TIFF file formats, and the pass-through of HP-GL/2 and previously RIPed HP RTL and EN RTL files. AutoCAD drivers support both HDI (Heidi Device Interface) and ADI (AutoCAD Device Interface) options and provide interfaces for AutoCAD 2000/2000i HDI, AutoCAD LT 2000/2000i HDI, and AutoCAD ADI for Rel. 13 and 14. A new robust Basic Windows driver assists Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0 and 2000 and allows users to print standard office applications such as monochrome scheduling charts and spreadsheets from Windows applications.
