Breakthrough in wide format colour scanning

1 November 2001

Contex Scanning Technology has introduced a new line of front-loading colour scanners, 'The Cougar', in both desktop (the 25 - A1 scan width) and floor-standing (the 36 - A0 scan width) models. With the ability to scan up to 0,6" (15 mm) thick documents at speeds up to 1,5"/s, the Cougar incorporates the latest imaging technology for high-quality colour scanning and copying.
"The Cougar implements several new patents, including: high precision colour scanners, variable line resolution and adaptive error diffusion, making it one of the most technological, versatile and advanced colour scanners on the market today," stated Aubrey Lindemann, Managing Director of Imaging Innovations - sole distributors for Contex in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is the ideal tool for sign companies, pre-press shops, photo labs, copy shops, GIS users, point-of-purchase and exhibit/display providers - providing a wide format colour copier solution when combined with suitable printers."
The Cougar captures images using all digital 36 bit colour from two 10 680 pixel tri-linear CCDs. Included in the features list are all of Contex's unique image processing capabilities for scanning poor quality images, like patented 2D adaptive threshold, sharpening, softening, blurring, and of course Contex's unique ADL+ error diffusion halftone copying algorithm.
The Cougar is available in a BASE version (600 dpi) and a PLUS version (800 dpi) and can be upgraded using Contex's unique Smartcard Technology.
