Cartridge-free colour laser printer

1 February 2002

The new FS-8000C from Kyocera Mita is a colour laser printer that operates without toner cartridges. Based on the economical and environmentally friendly ECOSYS-technology the FS-8000C uses a hard-wearing printer drum and other long-life components, and requires only one consumable - toner.
Furthermore, the FS-8000C can also be enhanced with a wide range of options. Its modular design means the FS-8000C can be tailored to individual requirements and is ideal for all colour printing in the office; producing presentations, newsletters and images from standard office applications such as Excel and Power Point.
Integration of new technologies
The performance of the FS-8000C is further improved by the use of new technologies. ATLAS (Advanced developer and transfer layout system) incorporates four fixed developers installed next to the periphery of the drum, as opposed to using rotating developers.
The advanced MC-ROD (magnetic instead of mechanical toner feeding) in the developer unit ensures even and precise control of the toner feed onto the drum. The magnetic barrier, which is built by the developer roller, replaces the mechanic feed of toner and achieves a higher lifetime of the system.
In addition to these new technologies, the compact design and the reduction of moving parts in the FS-8000C increases the stability of the printing procedure and therefore also increases the reliability and lifetime of the components, and the time between services.
