Well known property developer Gerry Comninos recently purchased an HP DesignJet 800 plotter from Graficomp in Randburg. Comninos is the developer of a commercial site - RandView Business Park - on Hans Strydom Drive in Randburg, which is currently the biggest commercial development in the Randburg area.

RandView will include a new lighting warehouse, Strata Stone, AutoQuip Tyres, The Floppy Disc, Performance Plant Hire, Rochesters Furniture and Bathroom Bizaar as well as a large office component. Development on this site started in July 1999 and the rezoning and infrastructure was completed in a record time of six months. Sales are currently at 50% and are expected to rise with the opening of all the new businesses by September this year.

Comninos did all the site development plans on the latest Caddie 8 software, which allowed him the total flexibility when exchanging drawings with other consultants who work on other CAD systems.

Comninos adds: "Using the hp DesignJet 800 series has reduced my ink costs dramatically." The HP DesignJet 800 uses four ink bottles per printhead compared to his old HP 750C which used a standard printer cartridge, which relates to a savings of up to 45% in monthly ink costs.

Comninos commented "because of the 2400 dpi and 6 Gig hard drive built in, I am able to do all my presentation work without having to outsource the printing. The service I received from Graficomp was outstanding - their knowledge not only included the plotter but also an intimate knowledge of the Caddie 8 System."
