1 June 2002

Pinnacle Micro has announced availability of the Canon PowerShot A100 camera, an entry-level model that nonetheless features high quality images and direct print capabilities.
"The PowerShot A100 boasts Canon's renowned quality while delivering digital images at a particularly competitive price point, making it the ideal camera for beginners in digital photography," says Cathy Dollenberg, product sales manager for printers and digital imaging at Pinnacle Micro.
Canon image processing expertise in the PowerShot A100 optimises output from the 1,2M pixel CCD sensor to create images that are suitable for use on websites or for e-mailing. The F2.8 lens ensures pictures that are clear and sharp in a variety of shooting conditions. The A100 includes an intelligent three point focussing system dubbed AiAF (Artificial intelligence Auto Focus). "With AiAF the subject is always in focus wherever it is in the frame; simply point and shoot for great digital images," says Dollenberg.
She adds that the A100 is not just a still camera; "It is also capable of capturing short video clips. The camera is compatible with Canon's CP-100 and CP-10 Direct Printers, which obviate the need for a PC to print pictures. The PowerShot A100 connects to PC or Mac through a USB port and is supplied with Canon's software suite including ZoomBrowser EX, PhotoStitch and PhotoRecord."
