As part of a calculated expansion drive, Graphco DTP and Repro recently bought an Encad NovaJet 736 from First Graphics.

Nathan Brehm, owner of the Johannesburg-based business says: "Graphco DTP and Repro is essentially a repro house. We bought the machine - the company's first venture into wide format digital printing - to extend our range of services to include poster printing. Our main market includes printers, publishers and design studios and we also do quite a bit of work in the packaging field. We also work outside South Africa's borders, with clients in Botswana and Swaziland, where we produce tourist guides. We have now, as a recent development, become associated with a publishing company.

"This has extended our business to Zambia and West Africa. Specifically, we do a magazine for an airline called Interair, which flies out of Johannesburg and goes to Zambia and West Africa. We also publish a magazine called the Zambian Traveller, which publicises Zambian business and tourism. We now offer not only repro, posters and publishing but provide a complete service from design and layout to the complete product which includes corporate gifts like calendars and diaries and so on. It means that we can offer a complete package into Africa and having the Encad is an important part of that complete package," concludes Brehm.
