Exhibition company chooses fastest Encad printer

1 October 2002

Started by owner John Kullman, 3D Design in Marlboro, Johannesburg has been designing and building exhibition stands for over nine years. The company recently acquired a second Encad 500 60" wide-format printer from imaging solutions company First Graphics.
Kullman reports: "Our market is very wide - it comprises anyone, in fact, wanting an exhibition stand. We have done work for companies across a very wide range of industries - LG Electronics, MNet SuperSport, Telkom, DeBeers, Canon, Total, SABS, Nedbank, Bosch, Sun MicroSystems, the list is extensive and it continues."
"We bought an Encad NovaJet 500 60" in June this year because our volume of work required it. We already had another Encad 500 60" and we needed to have two exactly the same for high volume work. The Encad is fast, reliable and cheap to run and having our own machines makes us cost-effective. We got the first Encad NovaJet 500 two years ago."
Kullmann wanted the Encad NovaJet 500 rather than another Encad model because it is a fast machine. It is billed by Encad as being the fastest Encad printer ever and boasts 300 dpi image quality and vibrant colours, as well as a 500 ml extended ink system which allows for many days of use without replacement - another plus for the kind of high volume work that 3D Design is involved in.
One interesting job 3D Design has been involved in is the recent launch of MNet's Big Brother 2 reality TV series. The company was involved in producing a number of images for the launch at Montecasino (Gauteng) in July this year.
