Kyocera Mita announces wide format range

1 December 2002

Local document solutions company, Kyocera Mita, recently announced the availability of its latest wide format range of plotters, multifunctionals and scanners at an open day held in co-operation with Reprodraft, their specialised wide format business partner.
"Kyocera Mita's family of wide format devices stretches what the market's perception of 'wide format' actually entails," says Wayne Holborn, manager: sales and marketing at Kyocera Mita South Africa. "Our range offers high quality plots, copies and scans without the wait and without the high cost. The KM-4850w, for example, will produce seven A1 copies/plots a minute with a fast first copy time of just 18 seconds." The wide format range is designed to meet the needs of busy offices where users require quickly produced plots and copies in A0 (down to A4), or up to 50 000 mm (copying).
In every KM-4800w series device (except the KM-S4850 wide format scanner) there are two roll paper feeders and a manual feed bypass as standard, and an optional RU-4 roll feeder. This offers a maximum paper capacity of up to three rolls, supporting different sizes and different media, thus ensuring efficient productivity.
The plotter controller supports a variety of CAD formats including HP-GL, HP-GL2, HP-RTL or raster format such as TIFF and JPEG. "KM-Plotclient makes plotting job sets easy, even where a job set includes different file formats and different output sizes. KM-Winprint makes printing wide format from Windows applications like PowerPoint or MS Project as simple as with any other Windows print drivers," says Holborn.
The plotter controller is network-ready and allows the KM-P4845w, KM-P4850w and KM-4850w with optional Scan/Plot System to plot from all platforms and operating systems, such as Windows, Macintosh and UNIX. The ICP (internet controlled plotter) controller has a built-in web server that allows users to monitor the status of the plotter or plot jobs or to reprint them from a standard web browser.
Ian Mallinson, partner at Reprodraft, wide format solution partner to Kyocera Mita since 1998, says that when considering the latest enhancements and features on the KM-4800w series, Reprodraft is very excited about the sales prospects for it. "The introduction of the KM-4800 series will open up an entirely new avenue of sales prospects due to the speed and quality of the printing process, thereby offering prospective clients the productivity they have always wanted.
"As the KM-4800 series includes a standard digital zoom copier, a multifunctional unit that copies, prints and scans, plus two plotters and a scanner, we are now able to offer a solution that best suits all our clients' needs," he concludes.
