Encad makes its mark at Light Works

1 December 2002

Light Works, a digital imaging bureau based in Bramley, Johannesburg, is enjoying the benefits of an Encad large-format printer that it purchased recently from imaging solutions company First Graphics.
Light Works traditionally prints backlit and photographic material for the advertising and retail markets. However, it saw a gap in the market for a printer that could print onto a wide range of media, and acquired an Encad NovaJet 850 60" large format printer for this purpose.
Andrew Elia, a director of Light Works, says that since he acquired the Encad printer in September, they have not stopped discovering new uses for it. He says the Encad 850 is easy to use and is able to print on a wide range of media. It is currently being used to print signage and in-store graphics on textile and adhesive vinyl.
The Encad NovaJet 850 is suitable for service bureaux, photo labs, exhibition builders and sign shops as well as graphics, art and production professionals. Fuelled by eight ink cartridges, it can keep two complete ink sets installed at the same time, giving the user the ability to instantly switch from indoor graphics to archival photos to outdoor signs.
Elia adds: "We acquired a Scitex Eversmart Supreme scanner from First Graphics about a year ago, and their back-up service was great, so we did not have to think too hard about who we were going to buy the printer from. We went for the Encad because it offered fast printing and we needed a competitive and productive machine."
