New ink cartridge assembly

1 February 2003

Kodak company Encad has announced improved performance of its NovaJet 880 and 850 wide-format inkjet printers as a result of the introduction of plug and play advanced ink cartridge assembly.
Featuring MicroBurst technology, the new ink cartridge is aimed at providing cleaner and easier cartridge installation and operation on both the NovaJet 880 and 850 models.
All new NovaJet 880s and 850s will feature the new ink cartridges, which can also be ordered for other NovaJet printers. All the operator needs to do is plug in the cartridge, wait 60 seconds before removing the protective tab and the ink head is ready to print. The cartridge is shipped with backpressure, so no additional priming is required if there is already ink in the lines.
MicroBurst technology, present in all NovaJet 800 series machines, enables each ink cartridge to be used for up to 1500 ml of ink while Encad's unique Thermal Monitoring System on both the NovaJet 880 and 850 continually monitors the performance of the cartridges and ink flow to ensure print performance is optimised.
Compensation is automatically made for under and over performing nozzles and misdirected drops of ink to ensure that printing can continue without interruption for maximum productivity. However, if a print cartridge becomes deprimed or the quality falls below a certain level, the printer will stop to allow the operator to replace the cartridge.
The NovaJet 880 and 850 are ideal for the production of graphics for indoor, outdoor and extended life applications, based on Encad's warranted ink and media solutions. The new ink cartridge assembly works on all Encad NovaJet 600, 700 and 800 Series printers and is available locally through First Graphics.
