Xerox expands workflow options with Fiery servers

1 August 2004

Opening up more workflow options to customers in commercial print, quick-print and in-plant colour printing environments, Xerox Corporation and EFI have announced two new EFI Fiery colour servers specifically designed for Xerox digital colour presses.
The new servers for the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press and DocuColor 5252 Digital Colour Press expand the range of front-end systems available to customers, enabling them to easily integrate these presses into their existing workflow.
"Working with our partners, we are able to bring more solutions to market for Xerox customers, helping them leverage the value of their existing investments while streamlining their processes," says Fred DeBolt, vice president, colour business team, Xerox Production Systems Group. "EFI is known for its colour management systems and expertise; add that to Xerox's industry-leading digital presses, and together we are able to offer efficient workflow solutions based on an open architecture."
"High-volume customers seeking the power of iGen3 with the quality and ease-of-use of our award-winning Fiery servers have an unbeatable combination," says Mehran Farimani, general manager of Advanced Server Products, EFI. "By working with Xerox we are able to offer customers the same high speed, precision colour output with full variable-data capabilities that tens of thousands of print production professionals have come to expect from their Fiery-driven devices."
EFI Fiery Server for iGen3
Users now have access to the Fiery front-end and the Xerox DocuSP colour controller for the iGen3. If EFI tools and support are part of the creation phase of a job, then printers can maintain a consistent and reliable workflow process by submitting that job to the EFI Fiery server on their iGen3 for digital colour printing. The new Fiery server provides the familiar operator interface for customers who favour Fiery front-ends and want the industry's most advanced digital press. It enables iGen3 users to use a full range of EFI open workflow solutions and components.
EFI EXP5000 for DocuColor 5252
Coupling the EFI EXP5000 server with the Xerox DocuColor 5252 results in a powerful package boasting one of the industry's fastest image processing times. A replacement for the EX2000d, this new colour server is based on the latest EFI platform and enables quicker, easier and more accurate colour document production. Concurrent job processing that allows multiple jobs to be submitted at once helps to increase productivity. The EXP5000 comes with the EFI Command Workstation, a user interface that can be customised with predefined layouts, and customer settings that help simplify the job submission process.
Colour management is top-of-the-line with the EXP5000. It automatically handles colour conversions that ensure the DocuColor 5252 printouts are accurate to job specifications and maintain precise colour consistency. For more advanced colour management, an optional Graphic Arts Package is offered.
