Lamborghini selects CATIA for exotic sports car development

1 July 2001

Automobili Lamborghini, manufacturer of some of the world's most renowned performance cars, IBM and Dassault Systemes have announced that Lamborghini has selected CATIA Solutions as its strategic computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE) system. The agreement includes not only the purchase of CATIA software licences, but also IBM training and IBM services. Lamborghini will implement CATIA in the areas of body and chassis design as well as for interior trim components.
Lamborghini selected CATIA for its proven capability to reduce the development cycle time, and to ensure and maintain the high quality of its products.
CATIA will enable Lamborghini to design parts and assemblies in realtime across internal teams and in cooperation with suppliers. The company will be able to work more efficiently, and respond faster to its customers' needs. Designers will capture information once in CATIA, which will then be propagated throughout the development process. CATIA's integrated, user-friendly products will reduce the risk of design error and improve productivity.
Explained Maurizo Reggiani, Lamborghini Design Manager, "Creating the world's finest exotic production cars demands perfection in everything we do, from our design concepts through manufacturing and maintenance. After evaluation, it was clear that only CATIA offered the solutions that could meet our stringent specifications in every area, and help us respond to our customers' needs faster."
