Xitron, which this year celebrates 25 years as an independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, has appointed PrePrint Equipment and Supplies to market and support all its solutions for the graphic arts, pre-press, publishing and printing industries in southern Africa.

Xitron has also announced Version 6.0 of its Navigator RIP.

Typical benefits to be obtained from the Navigator RIP, are firstly, the ability to use one RIP technology throughout the prepress department. Secondly, the elimination of prepress workflow bottlenecks on account of its capability to drive the output device at full speed while simultaneously receiving files and interpreting. Thirdly, Navigator fully supports PostScript Levels 1, 2 and 3, PDF with PDF/X-1a and the new PDF/X-3, as well as the full PDF 1.4 with transparency and JBIG2 implementations.

Other features include support for N-Color commands and greys in ICC profiles, spot colour duotones from Photoshop and spot blends from Quark and Illustrator. Fourthly, some of the Navigator optional extras include workflow tools such as in-RIP trapping, film saving and load balancing.
