The Department of Environmental Affairs and Developmental Planning's Western Cape Provincial Government Directorate of Pollution and Waste Management is using an Encad NovaJet 736 wide-format printer to produce high quality maps. The Directorate acquired the printer from imaging specialist First Graphics and is using it for aerial mapping and GIS, as well as for CAD work.
First Graphics took part in a tender process to supply the printer to the Department. "After seeing demonstrations on several printers, the customer elected to go with the Encad NovaJet 736," says First Graphics' Donovan Tose.

Tose says, "The printer is very fast and has the capability to do indoor and outdoor prints without flushing the ink lines. This versatility was one of the key selling factors for the Department."
The Senior Environmental Officer - Pollution Information and Chemicals Management, Johan Strauss, says the printer has largely been used to print GIS maps and posters and has performed well to date. The wide-format printer has four ink reservoirs and eight ink lines, making it easy to switch between indoor and outdoor inks.
