Cape Town GIS day

Cape Town City Council Planning and Environment recently hosted a GIS DAY for the City at the Bellville City Hall. More than 200 people interested in GIS from across the City attended the event, including city councillors.
The presentation focused on an initial overview of GIS in the city, followed by a cost and benefit analysis from Steve Hine. The presentation then moved on explaining the benefits of new technology with a description of ArcGlobe using real Cape Town data (part of the ARCGIS 9 beta program taking place locally). This was then followed by live demonstrations of the city's planning applications.
