Automated Reasoning provides 3D design software to tertiary institutions

1 October 2004

Stellenbosch University has renewed its contract with Automated Reasoning, the local distributors of Pro/Engineer, a 3D software solution for the manufacturing and engineering sectors. The renewed contract will see the university's undergraduates and post-graduates in industrial engineering making use of its Pro/Engineer software for training.
Charles Anderson, MD of Automated Reasoning, says the contract has been running for several years, adding that "graduates from Stellenbosch University are geared for their future careers, from a design point of view, in Pro/Engineer". He says Stellenbosch University falls under the company's 'social responsibility drive'.
"This drive is part of our social responsibility programme. We provide our Pro/Engineer software to tertiary institutions at a nominal fee - and we see this as our way of investing in the new SA, and in the skills improvement within the engineering and manufacturing industries. By making the training in our software more affordable we are able to indirectly invest in educating future designers and mechanical engineers.
"We believe that every student that is currently training as mechanical engineers or industrial engineers has a right to receive the best training possible by being exposed to - and trained in - the best tools available."
