Lexmark Baby Days grows by 16%

1 April 2005

Having tallied up the numbers, Lexmark is proud to announce another record year of Baby Day's accumulated for its Cartridge Recycling Initiative for Babies (CRIB) initiative.
The total Baby Days accrued for 2004 came in at a whopping 7220 up from 6229 accumulated in 2003. This shows close to a 16% increase in the number of days 'raised' from the previous year.
Says Hans Horn, managing director at Lexmark SA: "Our CRIB initiative has turned into one of the most successful CSI initiatives on our yearly calendar. Each year our network of clients, distributors, team members and resellers prove their commitment to the community by consistently supporting our CRIB recycling initiative. The growth in Baby Days is only due to the growth in support we receive."
A Baby Day is the equivalent of clothing, feeding, housing and caring for one child at Cotlands for the period of one day. This initiative has managed to raise over 17 000 Baby Days for needy charities such as Cotlands since its inception in April 2002.
Lexmark approaches the members of its dealer, reseller and customer network and encourages them to return their used and empty cartridges, which are then recycled into new plastic products. Lexmark in turn donates money to the Baby Days fund. Horn says the goal of this is two-fold, firstly it generates contributions to the welfare of worthy charities, and secondly the company adheres to its strict global rules around recycling of materials, which are potentially hazardous to the environment.
