Real world of business on showcase at Windows World

1 April 2000

Visitors to this year's Computer Faire at Gallagher Estate from 24 to 27 May 2000 will be introduced to Windows World for the first time. Windows World is Microsoft's exhibition concept which allows visitors to find Windows-based products and dedicated solutions in one concentrated area.
"Research has shown that visitors to computer and business exhibitions prefer 'pavilionised' areas like Windows World which allow easier navigation and effectively offer visitors a one-stop shop," comments Celeste Abroms, Exhibition Manager and organiser of the 22nd Annual Computer Faire. "Windows World forms part of this strategy and will hopefully set the standard for future Computer Faires."
Hosting various Windows partners, Windows World will be located in Hall 3 at Gallagher Estate. "Visitors will be introduced to the Microsoft Windows partners that comprise the industry's most effective, highest quality solutions delivery channel," comments Mark Hill, Managing Director of Microsoft South Africa. "With the arrival of Microsoft Windows 2000, this will be the best place to see the product being used in various solutions."
"Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss and explore the many opportunities and applications built on the Windows platform today. Windows World is not about Microsoft, it is about Microsoft partners enabling business and making the most of IT opportunities."
The success of Windows World is echoed by Jelle van Vliet, Marketing Director of Fenestrae, a leading global provider of fax/messaging solutions for the Microsoft BackOffice family. "Windows World holds major implications for companies wanting to be leading players in the IT industry. The exhibition creates a valuable relationship-building platform for us to introduce our solutions to the South African market. Partnering with Microsoft enhances the opportunity to do business in the real world."
Andrew McHenry, Marketing Manager of Aqua Online agrees: "Being part of Windows World will position us as a leading player in the world of electronic commerce. We believe that working together with Microsoft and various other IT companies, we can create a healthy business environment with opportunities for all."
The focus for this year will be the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and enabling the knowledge worker. Visitors to the Microsoft stand at Windows World will have their questions answered on anything from Microsoft support to world-class industry solutions for enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and electronic commerce. Windows World will offer the business visitor a complete one-stop stand for business in the new millennium.
"We want to address the business needs of the SME market while focusing on the challenges facing the 21st century knowledge worker," adds Hill. "Through Windows World and Microsoft's participation we want to create a platform where the business community of South Africa can meet and share best practice."
