Bentley Systems, the specialised engineering software solutions company, has steadily grown to become one of the major providers of system solutions in the world. Major projects such as the new Dubai airport were developed and constructed by using Bentley software solutions.

During the past year Bentley Systems negotiated a deal with Ikwezi, a black empowerment company, and Intertech, an existing reseller of Bentley products, to merge and form a new company called Bentley SA. Although the merger was unofficially announced, the complexity of the negotiations proved to be the downfall of the deal. Days before the documents were to be signed, Bentley Systems cancelled the proceedings.

Says Tex van Deventer, MD of Bentley SA, "We are still looking for a suitable partner and are negotiating with a number of other companies. It will be in our, as well as the industry's, best interest if we can work together towards the same goal of providing a better infrastructure for South Africa, as well as the rest of Africa."

Bentley SA remains dedicated to its client base and is now restructuring to provide an even better service.
