Intergraph appointed as MaxVision distributor

1 October 2001

Intergraph Systems Southern Africa, a division of the IKWEZI Group announced that it has signed an agreement with MaxVision Corporation of Huntsville, Alabama, USA, to become the sole distributor of MaxVision products in southern Africa.
Since its inception, MaxVision has developed best of class transportable workstations, rack-mount servers, desk-sides and custom-engineered hardware solutions for high performance graphics applications. Primarily a computer engineering company, MaxVision is focused on creating innovative hardware solutions and service programmes that perform far beyond the scope of commodity workstations and notebook PCs.
Rex van Olst, Managing Director of Intergraph Systems Southern Africa, and the Executive Chairman of the IKWEZI Group, visited MaxVision's corporate headquarters in July of this year. He said: "Since Intergraph decided to sell off certain areas of the hardware platform side of their business and concentrate on developing best-of-class software for their chosen markets, Intergraph locally has been sourcing workstations and PCs from local suppliers. Intergraph Systems has a full hardware support team in place to look after existing customers and it made sense to become a reseller for the MaxVision product line.
"The MaxVision products are all aimed at mechanical CAD, CAE computational analysis, visual simulation and animation and computer graphic imaging markets. Newer applications include digital video editing, video special effects and electronic news gathering for web-based applications. One of the main decision criteria in taking the MaxVision products into our fold was the fact that it enables us to offer our customers a complete engineering computer graphics solution."
The MaxVision products fall into three broad categories viz:
* The MaxPac, an innovative new line of systems designed to bridge the gap between the high performance workstation and the Notebook PC.

* The MaxPro Symbion Series Desk-side workstations delivers performance to meet the demands of power-users in the office. MaxRax rack-mount workstations are symmetrically engineered with common cross-platform components and product certifications to ensure the power user benefits from engineering advancements and technology standardisation developed across all of MaxVision's products.

* The MaxVision MaxRax family of rack-mountable, Windows-based computers provides a complete range of solutions for those professionals who require a rack-mounted workstation, flight simulator, computer server, file server, web server or render farm applications.
A full range of chassis types and sizes are supported.
