Automated document distribution with inexpensive CDs

1 October 2001

Rasterex, distributed locally by Image Scanning Technology (IST), has announced the availability of RxCDManager. The software enables users to collect and organise all types of documents and drawings on CD and then inexpensively duplicate CDs using a standard CD burner. RxCDManager also includes a powerful viewer, so users can view more than 200 file types, including high-definition CAD drawings and software from leading vendors.
"RxCDManager is a timesaving, inexpensive and well-organised method of distributing document sets of different formats," said Louis Alberts, MD of IST. "Users avoid expensive copying processes, large volumes of paper or files, and confusion with revisions. In addition, building revised versions of the CD for distribution is fast and simple.
"The benefits are significant," continued Alberts. "RxCDManager enables project teams, vendors, clients and partners to effectively collaborate and share information. Companies gain efficiency and accuracy over traditional, paper-based systems. All collaborators can now have easy access to critical information."
RxCDManager creates an organised database of documents. A registration system assigns each document an exclusive 'archive card' with number, description and thumbnail. Once all the documents have been registered, users can burn an original CD and then make copies for distribution. Anyone accessing the CD can easily search the database for documents and review them at a glance by viewing the thumbnails.
Employees who work remotely or in the field benefit by having the entire documentation set for the project, including the construction drawings, at their fingertips. RxCDManager's viewer contains functions such as panning, zooming, plotting and printing.
Businesses of all types can benefit from RxCDManager's technology. Example uses include: engineering project archives; health, environment and safety documents; user documentation; distribution of X-ray pictures; and picture and drawing archives.
