EPSON wins SA Photo Award

1 December 2001

In recognition of the quality and performance that Epson's PRINT Image Matching technology has brought to digital imaging, SA Photo magazine recently awarded the company with the Product of the Year accolade.
The annual competition, which is in its seventh year is run by leading publication SA Photo and is recognised as prestigious by the South African photographic industry. Only products and companies within the local market can be nominated. "The world's photographic industry has watched with interest over the last few years as Epson has made significant progress in all aspects of inkjet printing technology," comments Chris Reilly, Editor SA Photo.
"Noteworthy advances include Epson ColorFast inks with their remarkable longevity, and Epson MicroDot and variable-sized droplet technology.
"Epson's PRINT Image Matching technology is the most important development in both digital imaging and photographic inkjet printing today."
The technology allows the digital camera to control print quality by automatically making the adjustments needed to match optimal printer settings. Depending on the type of subject, portrait or landscape, the image is digitally tagged as it is taken, this means the photo reflects precisely what is seen through the lens. The appropriate settings are sent straight from the camera to the printer. At its recent annual product launch EPSON SA introduced the Epson PhotoPC2100Z and Stylus Photo 810 broadening its existing digital photo range of the Epson Stylus Photo 895 printer and the Epson PhotoPC 3100Z which incorporates PRINT Image Matching technology.
